Hello!

I'm Alex Sam (or Pixolms/Sy in the online space), an Aboriginal Australian Artist and Animator. I graduated RMIT in 2024 with a Bachelor of Design (Animation & Interactive Media) and have been drawing and animating for the past maybe 10 years or so!As you can see from the tabs up there, my absolute favourite work to do involves character design, 2D animation, storyboarding and just concept art in general.If I'm not drawing, I'm engaging with media in the sci-fi, horror, thriller, or comedy genre. Or outside looking for critters!I hope you enjoy my work!

Student Film

This is the 2D animated short film I made for my final year at RMIT in 2024. It took around 6 months to complete and nearly a year including concepting and writing. It's a slasher comedy!Synopsis: A demonic bird of prey hits a motorcyclist in the face while he’s riding, and now they must work together to satisfy the creature’s need to kill.I plan to release it at the end of 2025! Right now you can watch the trailer on my YouTube channel and look at some of the work I did for it.

Rise Up Again | BLOODORN (Music Video)

A 2D animated music video for the heavy metal band BLOODORN and their song Rise Up Again. This was an awesome opportunity one of my university classes offered.I worked with all my classmates and lecturers as we came up with lots of ideas for every aspect of the video. I was put in the design team for a few weeks, who were in charge of coming up with the look of nearly everything (characters, environment, style, etc).Then we went into production mode and I did a bunch of animation! I did roughs and clean up in ToonBoom Harmony. You can see the animation work I did below!

BLOODORN character line up and turnarounds. These were a joint effort with classmates. I did the final turnaround for the Bloodorn and Fenrir, and refining of the band members.

The Nguruvilu

A 2D animated film I created with two classmates for a university project, with the help of two lecturers. We had to choose a myth/legend/story from any culture and make an animated short about it.We decided on The Nguruvilu, a legend from Chile in South America.
